Now that we have heard from the Government on their decision to have more high paying slots machines available for bingo clubs, the bingo clubs must be rejoicing from the rooftops. Although the move is not a huge change, it does double the amount of these slot machines for bingo halls and therefore doubles any [...]

I have just read that the relaxation of the laws Governing the amount of high paying slot machines in British bingo halls might just be the trigger that triggers the break up or sale of the Rank group that operates Mecca Bingo in the UK. I don’t know how this is possible, but am going [...]

Wink Bingo is another site attracting a lot of industry attention at the moment, and their viral ad campaign is now being heavily circulated via email and shared links, bringing in more interest and players than ever. Only launched in Feb of this year, Wink is proving to be a strong competitor with many players taking up residency there after the sign up period.

This viral campaign, which features three elderly ladies in their local bingo hall talking is a massive boon to the site and to the popularity of bingo altogether. Demonstrating how current Internet bingo is and underlining the popularity of the Internet as a subtext this campaign is both clever and amusing.

Bingo clubs win on slots

THE UK Government says it will relax limits on the number of slot machines allowed in bingo clubs, giving a lift to the industry which has seen a number of clubs close in the wake of new gambling laws.

Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe said the maximum number of £500 jackpot slot machines allowed in bingo clubs would be raised from four to eight.

Finally we have a decision from the UK Government regarding slot machines in bingo halls. They have handed a much needed lifeline to the industry in a complete U-turn on the amount of ₤500 jackpot slots allowed in bingo halls. Heaven knows there has been enough lobbying for this to take place. I don’t know [...]

It comes as no surprise to me that Parlay Entertainment has picked up two awards at the Online Bingo Summit recently held in London. They are a leading supplier of online bingo software for both TV and internet solutions. Hardly a week goes by without Parlay Entertainment being in the news, and they were also [...]

Rumours have been abounding that the Former Gala Bingo Club in Nuneaton was going to be turned into one of the new budget brand Primark stores. Apparently theses rumours have now been squashed and the former bingo hall in Abbey Street is now safe from being turned into a High Street store. Although it has [...]

The Deluxe Bingo bingo club in Hastings experienced an all new type of visit when a drunk man climbed to the top of the club and was spotted on the canopy at 2am. The police were called by a member of the public who told the police that the man had climbed up by way [...]

Those of us who enjoy Internet bingo love it so much we spend around £600 million on online bingo tickets a year. These figures are based on the amounts returned to players in jackpots over a year and take into account the 15%-20% an operator will keep for itself. This estimation of the figures has been so far widely accepted although the site admits it's not the whole picture as operators are loath to give out definitive numbers. In the light of this, we thought we'd take a look and see what these figures are and what they mean to our members.

Here comes The Sun

According to this report, The Sun Bingo has a massive 19% of the online bingo market and Gala Bingo a huge 16%. These are of course two trusted brand names that everyone - even non-players - can recognise and so their success comes as no surprise to those in the industry. It is interesting however that The Sun site, which doesn’t use TV promotion to gain players, leaves behind both Gala and Foxy. Both Foxy and Gala are renowned for their advertising achievements, with Sharon Osbourne being the face of Gala and Foxy sponsoring a TV show. The Sun seems to rely on word of mouth and ads in its paper and on its main site to bring in player numbers, an approach that is certainly paying dividends.

Spanish executive takes the chair

The Federation of European Union Bingo Associations (EUBINGO), has appointed Javier Franch Cardona of the Spanish Association to serve as president for two years. The Association comprises several of Europe's bingo associations.

Outgoing President, Sir Peter Fry of Great Britain's bingo association assumes the vice presidency and Italo Marcotti of the Italian association Federbingo takes over as secretary.

The appointments were announced at EUBINGO's agm in Brussels on 18 June 2008. Cardona is President of the Spanish Association of Bingo Entrepreneurs CEJ, and will serve a two-year term.

The agm went on to approve a common position on online gambling and a code of conduct on responsible gambling, and confirmed its commitment to the establishment of a European Social Dialogue table for gambling. The Assembly further agreed on the continuous monitoring of developments in gaming regulation; on engagement in the political process at EU level; a potential gambling Directive and on recruitment of new member associations from other EU member states.

“2008-2010 looks set to present the bingo sector with very specific challenges, not least in the form of continued smoking bans, providing for responsible gaming and competition from other forms of gaming – we at EUBINGO look forward to these challenges” said Cardona

Established in 2006, EUBINGO represents the professional and social interests of national bingo associations. Members include the Bingo Association of Great Britain, the Spanish Confederation of Organizations of Bingo Games Managers, the Italian Federbingo and the Star Bingo Group of Ireland.

After having waited more than 50 days for a response from the Government regarding the placement of more slot machines in Bingo halls, and the announcement to the British Bingo Association that something would be done about this, apparently we are going to be hearing something on Wednesday. I personally am not going to be [...]

Not everyone has access to it. In order to make the channel more readily available to UK bingo fans, they have launched [...]

Bingo - Arkansas Lawmakers To Consider Options Bingo and raffles were viewed as constitutionally banned lotteries - some church and other groups still ran the games - until voters in 2006 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing recognized organizations to conduct the games for charitable purposes. Last year, the state Department of Finance and Administration set a $600,000 annual budget for a new five-person division to monitor bingo operations statewide. The state imposed a 1-cent per bingo game card tax to cover the cost.

Just a few days ago one of the UK's most popular online bingo software creators, Parlay took their new platform, Parlay 5 for its industry debut at the Third Annual Online Bingo Summit in London. In demonstrating the new software's capacity for international game play Parlay have shown that once again they are breaking new ground for operators and players alike.

Throwing down the gauntlet to other platforms, Parlay have incorporated some expansive features in the new version and challenges others to face up to the increasing demand to supplement the huge market in a way as ambitious as this.

The national bingo game have made the decision to suspend the national bingo caller of the year 2008 competition, citing the difficulties that the bingo industry are facing at the moment. This move is unprecedented since this sought after bingo caller of the year title began back in 1994 by the bingo association, and was subsequently taken over by the national bingo game itself in 1999.

Patrick Bowler was the first ever winner of the bingo caller of the year title back in 1994 and Blake Robson won this prestigious title in 2007.

UK's National Bingo game made this statement on their website – “It is fully anticipated that the competition will be reinstated in an even more exciting and further reaching format next year and we look forward to re-launching our search for Britain’s premier bingo callers at that time”.

Analysis: Charities’ bingo cut under 6% In the first eight months of legalized bingo in Arkansas, less than 6 percent of the proceeds went to charity. The state Department of Finance and Administration on Friday released to legislators its analysis of charitable bingo finances in Arkansas through March 31. Total bingo proceeds in the state were $10.3 million. “We’re having more people playing than we anticipated,” said state Assistant Revenue Commissioner John Theis. He said the department last year made no prediction aboutthe amount that would go to charity.

Sixty Five year old Joy Ammon of Rushden is the latest in a long line of winners to have a go at the national Bingo prize and she won ₤61 499.15 at the flutters bingo club. She is the third big winner at the club in a short space of time. The other two winners [...]

Since announcing its launch Bingo Hideout have given ITV's Bingo Night Live a couple of weeks to settle into the new format before reviewing it. We like to be fair at Bingo Hideout and since we believe this new way to play has huge potential and could - with the right audience share - make the move onto prime time telly we have held back. Unlike other sites that were quick to judge and jumped on the slightest failing of the first few shows, we wanted to be able to give this fledgling project a chance.

The ITV show Bingo Night Live is hosted by Melinda Messenger and Micheal Underwood and is presented in a glitzy and fresh format, which these presenters suit to a tee. The main concept behind the programme is it's simply an entertaining way to spend time and, since you can play for free, that's a winning format for all players.

This year Bingo Hideout was represented at the 3rd Annual Online Bingo Summit and it has to be said it was a truly excellent event, I will be back again next year!

It was fantastic to put faces to names, there are so many people that I have had voice and email contact with these last two years but have never met in person. It was great to meet Phil and the team behind Which Bingo, congratulations to them for winning best portal at the first bingo awards ceremony.

The online bingo site, Wink Bingo has got one of the most appropriate promotions on offer at the moment. It is a chance to win an eight night holiday for two on board the cruise liner “Miracle” through the Caribbean. But not only that, this cruise is a “Bingo” cruise, and what better way to [...]

I couldn’t resist adding this little snippet to my blog, I thought it was really nice, and in the wake of the Gala Bingo Club in Swindon being nearly closed down, I thought it was necessary to add, just to reiterate what bingo actually does for the community.
I don’t know if you are aware but [...]

Bingo Hideout is sad to confirm that the 2008 Bingo Caller of the Year Competition has been suspended. Although the National Bingo Games Association has said the competition is to be reinstated as soon as possible in 'an exciting and further-reaching format', this is little consolation to those who were in the running this year.

So why has this happened? Sadly this is yet another example of the multitude of changes that are currently rocking the stability of the live bingo world. This suspension has come about as a result of the wider reaching changes in the world of live bingo that we have been discussing at Bingo Hideout recently are having.

It is with great sadness that I write about another bingo hall closure in the UK, this time in Birmingham. Seventeen jobs will be lost with the closure of the Gala Bingo Club in Great Barr, Birmingham when it finally closes its doors to players on the 23rd June 2008, although Gala Coral is going [...]

Today, the leading bingo software developer, Parlay unveiled the long anticipated Parlay 5 to the online bingo industry in London. We've been checking in with Ruby Bingo this week to see what they've got planned for June and the Summer months, and, true to form they have some fab choices of promos and games to keep us all feeling the heat. In fact this download site has so many specials and games on promotion every time we look that it's hard to know where to start, but here goes…

First up is our choice of good old-fashioned fun. The return of 99 Pints of Beer on the Wall sees a return to the bingo games of old and reminds us why we love to play bingo in the first place. Back by player demand, this tourney- like chat game means players have to keep an eye on who takes the prize in each game. If they're Out Of Chat at the time of winning, Ruby will put 25p in the Beer Mug. Once 99 OFC wins have been reached, the First In Chat winner on a full house will win £15BPS.

With the race for the National Bingo Caller of the Year Competition hotting up, bingo caller from Sheffield, Roger Hartly is really hoping that his numbers com up at the end of the month when he hits the stage at the bingo calling finals. Who knows if he wins we might just be hearing his [...]

One Braknell bingo playing pensioner has been watching the results for the Presidential race with perhaps more of a close eye than the rest of us. This person happens to be the Stepmom of Barak Obama. That is right, she lives in the UK and as her famous stepson gets closer to the Whitehouse, she [...]

Big bucks drew kid hacker into cyber crime

"His knowledge of the codes and payment gateways is as good as that of a professional hacker," said a senior crime branch official who has been interrogating this teenager picked up from Mulund in Mumbai, involved in an online payment scam on eBay. Three other persons who were arrested in Ahmedabad for their involvement in the scam are in police custody.

This week, we've been checking up on Dream Bingo to see how the summer heat is getting to them....

Dream Bingo has come up with another fab tourney this month to help its regular players realise their dreams. Simply play in any game and you'll be entered into the Midsummer Night's Dream tourney where every £10 deposited is an entry into the grand draw. Play until the end of June to be in with a chance of winning your choice of the £1,000 Red Letter Day voucher. Letting its players choose their prizes is a cool way to reward roomies by anyone's estimation; this simple tourney shows how innovative this site can be and why it's one of our favourites.

Look into my Isis

As famous for their cool slot promotions as their bingo tourneys, Dream Bingo have a celebration of their latest two slot games Isis and Bingo Bango Boom in June. Players who wager a minimum of £10 on either of these games will enter into the prize draw at the end of the month where the first prize is a massive £250!

With the issue of fair games featuring in our forum this week, we’ve been investigating what measures online bingo sites have in place to make sure players get a fair game every time.

A game of chance?

Unlike in a game of live bingo, online bingo players are not able to see the numbers being drawn and have to trust in the site’s bingo software to run smoothly and fairly. There are numerous was in which your favourite site can ensure that all players get an equal chance to win including the use of random number generators. These are used for most online gambling games and provide the unpredictability that games such as online bingo rely on. Unlike betting on a horse, where a number of factors can influence the outcome of a race, playing a game of online bingo is entirely a game of chance and depends – unpredictability is an essential part of the fun.

Bingo profits drop sharply

Bingo profits drop sharply The Cyprus Shriners used to measure their bingo profits in thousands of dollars. Every night would bring in upwards of $4,000 for the Shriners hospitals. Now they’re lucky to net $1,000 — and more often than not, they lose money, local fundraiser David Gonyea said. “I think it’s getting marginal at this time,” he said as he surveyed a crowd of about 200 bingo players at the Bingo Palace on Thursday night. “We have few options. There are limited ways we can make money. But we may have to stop doing this.”

This week we've written a follow up to the Bingo Hideout forum thread about negative reviews for online sites. We have been looking at whether bad reviews are generally from players whose noses have been put out of joint by not winning who now want something for nothing. As suggested by Bingo Hideout Member Mellymoo we have also looked into the uses of joining the Bingo Players’ Union.

The benefits

Signing up with the Bingo Players’ Union boasts the benefits of providing a space where players can engage with the bingo industry to iron out the rough spots in play and suggest sites that are recommended as safe. Based in America, this site welcomes players from across the online bingo universe and is conversant with most languages.

As part of the Bingo Hideout commitment to keeping our members on top of all the best of online bingo we've taken a look at the best promos for June on our highest rated sites this week. In order to make sure you get the most from your game, we compile these promo overviews regularly and include site offers that run outside of monthly tourneys, so you can still play for the best prizes at a later date if you're not already a member.

Join the Bingo Jetset

So, first up, we've had a butchers at Bingo Jetset and we like what we see! They currently have the chance to win a 42' screen telly every Thursday at 9.45pm so you'll have plenty to feast your eyes on, no matter when you choose to sign up. Sign up to this site's Weekend Gazette and stay on top of the fab prizes they offer every weekend so you can enjoy more than a monthly thrill with the high-flying Jetset.

There's loads going on at 888 Ladies this June, including a contingency plan to surprise your man by joining in with all the football mayhem this month. 888 Ladies have taken the sensible notion of “if you can't beat ‘em, join ‘em” to the Euro Championship and are encouraging their players to do the same - after all who needs to be a footie widow, when you can get away with a few extra bingo games with your brownie points?

A day at the races

Better still there are lots of fantastic promos going on too including a chance to win a pair of VIP tickets to Ascot. This cool prize not only gives you the perfect excuse to show off your best outfit in front of Celebs and Royalty but it’s also a reason to buy a new hat to complete the look.

With all the football support you will have given to your other half by the time this prize comes round, there's no way he could refuse to accompany you round the shops. And since you'll be spending your £200 gift voucher, he'll have even less reason to complain.

June sees Foxy's third birthday celebrations in full swing and with the chance to win a Fiat Punto or a Caribbean Cruise, there's everything for loyal roomies to play for.

One of our favourite community-orientated sites, Foxy has made a landmark decision on its birthday, which should have a positive affect on all of its loyal players. The choice to cease vying for new players in the ever increasing 'sign-up wars' is an example we hope other sites will follow - and soon.

Short term perks, long-term losses

Sign-up bonuses to online bingo sites have become the equivalent of the enticing 6-month interest free choice on a new credit card. Inevitably with the ever-increasing flood of sign-up bonuses on offer after the time is up (or in the case of online bingo sites after the free cards are played) people move on to the next freebie offer. All of which does nothing for player retention numbers. More annoyingly for loyal players free games used momentarily by passers-by can mean the huge jackpots can be swiped by someone who is never heard from again, while roomies wait for PJP's to build up again.

No matter whether you prefer playing online bingo games or slots we've something for everyone in our monthly round up for June. Let's kick off with one of our favourite ways to play this month over at Game Village Bingo . This tourney is so easy to join in; players simply play either Dingo or SuperGems for points to win some amazing prizes. With choices of a Nintendo DS Lite, a Bouncy Castle for a summer the kids will never forget, £50 of Body Shop vouchers so you can pamper yourself (and any of your mates that deserve it) and a gorgeous picnic hamper to make going out easy and fun, it's an easy way to win the treats that you deserve.

If slots get you spinning with excitement why not visit Bingo Liner?

There's a huge £150 prize up for grabs every weekend at Bingo Liner and all you have to do to be in this tourney is wager on your favourite slot or poker game. With massively popular games like Fruit Frenzy and Super Sevens all in the game, there's every reason to give this tourney a whirl.

Moon Bingo is another brilliant site hosted by Cassava Enterprises, and as such offers all the amazing bonuses and promotions you have come to expect from an industry leader including a £1 million coverall every Friday -minimum payout £2,000 - and daily progressive jackpots to rival even the biggest names around.

Over the moon with bonus fun

This fun site offers 10 free cards to new players as well as a massive 100% cash match and then a further 50% on other deposits, so you can see from the outset why the new face of this operator is a massive hit with our members.

Registration not only earns you all these brilliant bonuses but also immediately qualifies you to be part of the ongoing loyalty scheme. With 1,000 bonus points to start you off, you can boost your points further with a massive 5000 points for every friend you refer and a further 10 points for every £1 you spend on online bingo games.

It is really hard for me to believe that Mrs. Colleen Rooney (to be) hosted a Bingo game for one of her hen nights, but bingo it was for her and her girlfriends, then a cocktail party and a night club afterwards. This bingo party was not the only hen party for this soon to [...]

Bingo Palace together with Parlay Entertainment has been given the go ahead for their Alderney license application. British Bingo and gaming giant, Ladbrokes are presently embroiled in a legal action brought against them by Svenske Spel, the State run gambling monopoly. The little town of Biggleswade in Bedfordshire is home to the Flutters Bingo Hall and it appears as though the local Town Council has taken umbrage to the brightness of the lights outside the bingo hall, that warmly welcome, regular fans of bingo. Apparently the bingo hall did not apply for planning permission to have [...]

The Unites States has tried it and couldn’t pull it off. Last year they launched a Television game show featuring bingo, but somehow didn’t quite manage to pull it off. However we believe that for the UK market it might have a different pull, because although the game of bingo is really popular in the [...]

It has been reported in the US press, the New York Post to be exact, that the popular online bingo site, Party Gaming is going to have to foot a huge $1 Billion to avoid being prosecuted by the US Government for pre Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act activities in the United States.  I don’t [...]

I personally cannot get enough of bingo, actually I love it so much that I am surprised that I even get time to write these blogs, but then again, we should always make time for things that are important to us and writing about bingo is certainly high on my list of “things to do”.

The live bingo industry is facing so many problems at the moment that we at Bingo Hideout are wondering whether the surprise announcement by Gala Bingo is the first sign of a turning tide for those companies with a lot currently invested in the live bingo industry.

Effects of the non-negotiable taxes on bingo and increases in petrol after the blow of the smoking ban shouldn't be underestimated, and with the increasing availability of bingo through various new media the game is undergoing change that is unprecedented in its history since its last historical resurgence in the UK during the Second World War.

Parlay Entertainment, the world’s leading developer who dominates the licensing of Internet bingo markets, particularly in regulated jurisdictions such as the UK and Europe, always fascinates me. I love hearing news of this world leader in the online bingo industry, and as they are perpetually changing and updating their services, I find any news of [...]

It always makes me think really hard when I hear stories such as these. I mean, how on earth can a game like bingo which is a completely innocuous and fun entertainment experience, become a source for problem gambling? Ah but there is the rub, it is not actually bingo that is the problem, it [...]

The latest results at the time of writing indicated that on the CM of the Month leader board the lovelies at Bingo Liner had made a remarkable recovery moving up 6 places in the international CM leader board to 1st place.

As one of our members’ favourite sites, the CMs at Bingo Liner are always hugely popular and are recognised across the board to be some of the best online at the moment, but what is the factor that marks the difference between a good CM and a brilliant one who moves players enough to vote for their performance in their room?

This fab site does exactly what it says in the strapline and with the Elvis caricature always on hand to watch the scores day or night, he makes sure the site truly does Rock Around the Clock!

As an American-based download site, most of the games are 75-ball lead though there are 90-ball options on offer too. All the currency is dealt with in dollars so make sure you're aware of the exchange rate while playing on this site. Bingo Day have dreamt up many extras to keep UK player interest in the shorter games, such as the poker bingo games in the 75-ball halls.

For example, there are many ways to win in their innovative sidegame Poker Bingo. This game is the perfect combination of two of the most popular games around, and follows the same rules as in most poker games. Players are rewarded the higher the hand they get so in this game, 5 of a kind is a great hand and can win you $9 and a royal straight flush will earn you an extra $10 into your bingo fund!

With Gala bingo shares having risen recently for the first time in a long time, the Gala Bingo company still seem to be reviewing their position on the live bingo stage and their latest shock announcement seems to be a manoeuvring of their stance to reduce outlay without losing their big name.

A surefire sign of how live bingo is currently changing and is about to change irrevocably Gala has announced its intention to withdraw from the national game. This means the game that was launched in 1986 to strengthen the popularity and position of the live game is now weakened by roughly a third of its strength. Gala have stated that in addition to focusing on an extended two-page High 5 game they will now be able to focus further on their own national game which they hope will still bring in sizeable jackpots for their players.

Why can't someone provide a safe, fun place to play bingo?

Fortunately there is a solution! Something new and unique in the online bingo world has arrived. Enter the Bingo Club. A non-gambling, membership bingo site where players talk about the nice prizes they are trading their points in for. Real prizes are won like, diamonds, high tech gadgets, TVs, cups, hats and pens.

A Bingo Club is a membership site, and the small monthly dues gets you into endless 24/7 bingo play with an active fun social chat room, because there is 24/7 monitors and chat games! The chat room envy is gone, because everyone plays the same amount of cards, an equal chance of winning. The prize grows when more players play in the game which makes it the more the merrier!

A Bingo Club is subscription site that helps players leave behind the gambler in themselves by limiting their bingo budget to a fixed amount. The fee is considerably smaller than the money you would spend at a pay site or for at a single night at local bingo hall.

Then there are the tournaments, parties, auctions. lotteries and other social events (at no addition fee) that comes with the club! Bingo lovers heaven!

Sixty seven year old Ann Davison from West Rainton regularly plays at the Gala bingo club in Galleries Leisure Park, Washington with husband Joe and another couple, Nancy and Peter Stehenson, they have been playing together for many years. She recently won more than ₤61 000 and will be sharing he money with the Stephenson couple even though they were not with them on the night of her big win. Ann, who used to be a telephonist says that they have always shared what they win playing bingo. She won ₤10 00 at the gala club last years and shared that with them too.
When she won the Stephensons were having a family barbeque to celebrate Peter’s 60th birthday and couldn’t play bingo, so Ann and Joe gate-crashed the birthday party to tell them the good news, she says that they were as happy and excited as she and her husband were. The lucky bingo players have a very big family, two daughters and three sons as well as twelve grandchildren, they are both retired from a fire protection business, and are really delighted to have some extra money in the bank to boost their pension.

Whether you're looking to save for your summer holiday or just want a little more put aside for Christmas it's sensible to draw up a strategy of how much you want to spend on a monthly basis on your online bingo games rather than hoping against hope that a big win will sort out your finances.

Most sites ask you upon registration what your estimated expenditure will be so they can monitor any potential problem players before things get out of hand but if you've changed your initial amount, a simple call or email to the admin should help you re-arrange your set amount.

The best way to budget for your game is to consider how much you can spare after your standard monthly outgoings. Once you have a fixed amount in mind, you can assess which site will best help you stay within this limit.

In terms of making the most of player friendships, sites such as Game Village Bingo and Foxy seem to have taken the initiative to get players together and arrange mass meets so that their roomies can get to know each other a little better.

Others seem to be a little behind on an idea which we think underpins the nature of the social side of online bingo - the side that is more exciting than tourneys or LPs could ever be. Meeting like-minded players for a day of laughs can only strengthen the community hosted through any site, so why wait for your chosen site to get on board?

Arranging a meeting of people from your local area (especially if you live in a city) is easy if you have a message board on site; you need not give your address, just arrange a time and a date and most roomies will be happy to come along.

Since the sociable side of online bingo is its biggest draw and in our opinion its best feature, this week we have been taking a look at how different sites choose to invest in its players and their overall social experience.

Every site is different with the features varying according to what the players want from the site and the money invested in the site itself. For example, some sites do not appear to have a community outside of basic live chat, whereas others such as Think Bingo and Foxy have developed a multitude of ways to you to communicate with fellow roomies.

Finding the right payment method to manage your bingo games online can prove to be the turning point in choosing to play for the first time or helping you to manage your monthly outgoings. Most of the bigger sites offer a good range of payment options, so that no matter whether you're nervous of paying online using your bank details, or haven't got access to a bank card you can still enjoy the world of online bingo along with all your roomie mates.

The most popular methods of payment include the simple use of your debit card, Neteller, Ukash and transfer services. Sites such as Mecca offer the use of most credit cards as well as a range of other services like Neteller, whereas other sites such as Jackpot City do not offer services outside of card payments, so it's important to check which services are supported before you start the sign up process.

Unquestionably the craze for bingo playing is most visible in U.K. going by the figures and statistics released every year end. As of now the bingo playing population has already crossed 3 millions, both online and offline. The lure by the online bingo sites is amazing, owing to the unique advantages it has over its offline counterpart. Exclusive privacy, anytime playing possibility, no physical commuting, going to any country bingo site in seconds by the click of the mouse and withdrawing at any time without waiting for the ongoing calling to end etc. make online bingo playing an excellent option.

But if the latest news of Yorkshire ladies preferring bingo to having sex with their partners is any indication, one can not but stifle the mouth opening in amazement. The revelation comes through a press report of a survey conducted by a bingo site, purportedly with only ladies polling. The survey says that more than 30,000 ladies play online bingo in Yorkshire; annually they win a prize money of £18 million; and to crest them all it says the Yorkshire ladies log on to their PCs to play online bingo every week more number of times than they have sex with their husbands. As a tail piece the survey also boasts that these ladies forego their Saturday afternoon shopping for playing bingo online during that time.

The questions nagging in one’s mind about the authenticity of the survey results notwithstanding, the essence of the news is, online bingo playing has supreme popularity among the fans in U.K., running over millions and the gambling bingo industry can rest assured of its growth for sure.

The popularity of Bingo Halls in U.K. ever since they were started in 1960, consequent to the mania crossing the Atlantic, following tremendous success in U.S.A., is well known. People found the new arrival as an enjoyable pastime from every angle and thronged Bingo Halls. The promoters were immensely satisfied and the fever caught up to demolish the old and worn-out cinema theatres of the 40s and 50s to convert them into enchanting Bingo Halls exclusively for playing Bingo games.

The side attractions continued unabated to sustain the competition to lure Bingo players. The social gatherings to chit-chat with friends, neighbors and new faces notwithstanding, additions of gambling machines, roulette, slots and fruit machines of all kinds were necessitated to keep the crowd engaged. The Bingo players found them handy during intervals between plays. Both the promoters and players were benefitted by these machines.

Then online Bingo came in 2003 and many feared that the exclusive Bingo Halls can not stand the competition and wither away slowly. Surprisingly they were proved wrong, the reason being both offline Bingo and online Bingo playing games are distinct from each other. Each having their own advantages, crossing borders by Bingo lovers did not happen.

Bingo halls continue to maintain their charm in crowd pulling even today, after 5 long years of competition between the two. The threat of banning additional jackpot playing machines and curtailing the limits beyond £500 was looming large. This has also been blown to the wind by the Gambling Minister’s utterances lately, explaining the government’s plan to enlarge the limits. The U.K. Gambling Industry can really rejoice on this Good News!

I made a raw coconut-ginger-carrot salad from a cooked vegie recipe and it was toooo onion-y.
So I blended it in a blender and used it as a dressing on avocado. YUM!

Only it looks like orange baby poo!

Bingo has a long tradition in the UK, with nicknames or rhyming calls for all the numbers, from 1 to 90, which date back to the 1950s.

Here is the lowdown on bingo calls to help you decipher the jargon.

Some calls are very famous like Legs Eleven and Clickety Click: 66, while others refer to the way the numbers look: Two little ducks: 22 or Two fat ladies: 88.

There are the rhyming pairs: Pick and Mix – 26, Man Alive – 5, Made in Heaven - 67

And the significant age numbers: Dancing Queen – 17, Key to the Door – 21

The unimaginative: Four and Seven – 47

The mathematical: Six dozen – 72

From the sublime: One more time - 79

To the ridiculous: Dirty Gertie - 30

And the simply inexplicable: More than Eleven – 37, Was she worth it – 56 (apparently the cost of a wedding license in the old days).

In recent years, some attempts have been made to modernize the bingo calls, for example J-Lo’s bum: 71 was tried, but didn’t stick.

Gold – always believe it

Clearly, one of the best ways to reap the rewards of loyal play is to sign up to a site that offers a loyalty scheme. Some sites offer rewards at such a high cost, most of us can only dream of reaching the elite status they offer. The reality is that for most players, online bingo is a fun hobby and doesn't involve a huge expenditure every month. In some cases aiming for gold status is an impossible achievement. After all, playing within a set budget is the best way to manage your game play and if you're keeping up your loyal commitment to any site, why not get the best returns you can for that devotion?

Last week there was a reported glitch in the Foxy software that caused a huge overpayment of £50,000 in a simple £500 coverall game. This would have been an excellent turn up for the player in question and although Foxy were kind enough to honour this mistake, it is a rare and unusual event in online bingo.

Foxy are currently using software by 888 Holdings. The different software platforms available on big brand sites such as Foxy offer a range of choices in play and interactivity and with more money than ever being invested in new platforms such as Playtech and Leapfrog, the levels of interaction you can get from a site are always expanding.
